VENOM - DISCOGRAFIA:
Venom é uma banda de metal inglesa, formada em 1979. O Venom nasceu da NWOBHM, influenciou o thrash metal e o death metal, além de dar origem ao estilo black metal com o álbum e a canção de mesmo nome, de 1982.
BIOGRAFIA;
Uma influência seminal para a evolução do thrash e black metal, o Venom se formou no final dos anos 70 em Newcastle, Inglaterra. Originalmente um quinteto chamado Oberon, eles finalmente reduziram sua formação para um trio contendo o vocalista/baixista Conrad “Cronos” Lant, guitarrista Jeff “Mantas” Dunn, e baterista Tony “Abaddon” Bray. Influenciado pela intensidade pesada do Motörhead e pelo visual vistoso do KISS, o recentemente renomeado Venom desenvolveu um som negro e cruel que pavimentou o caminho para o vindouro levante da música thrash; similarmente, sua imagem macabra e orgulhosamente satânica provou-se uma grande inspiração para as legiões de bandas de black metal que apareceram com o seu despertar, até mesmo dando ao gênero seu nome com seu segundo LP de 1982, “Black Metal” (a estréia, “Welcome To Hell”, viera um ano antes).
O terceiro álbum do Venom, “At War With Satan”, seguiu em 1983, e dois anos depois eles lançaram “Possessed”. Mudanças de formação contaminaram o grupo nos anos que vieram, com Mantas saindo no lançamento do ao-vivo “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”, de 1985; os guitarristas Matt Hickey e Jimmy Clare vieram como substitutos, estreando no “Calm Before the Storm”, de 1987. Porém, Cronos saiu também, montando uma carreira solo e levando Hickey e Clare com ele; nesse ponto Mantas se juntou a Abaddon para formar uma nova edição do Venom com o ex-vocalista/baixista do Atomkraft, Tony Dolan e o guitarrista Al Barnes. A nova formação estreou no “Prime Evil”, de 1989; “Tear Your Soul Apart” apareceu um ano depois.
Depois de “Temples of Ice”, de 1991, Barnes deixou o Venom; sua ausência foi preenchida por Steve White, que junto com o tecladista V.X.S. foi recrutado em tempo para o “The Waste Lands”, de 1992, antes de ambos rapidamente saírem. O trio Mantas, Abaddon e Dolan continuou a fazer turnês durante a metade da década, apesar de nenhuma gravação de estúdio ter saído; finalmente, Cronos voltou ao Venom em 1996, abrindo caminho para a saída de Dolan. O retorno à ativa da formação original foi anunciado pelo lançamento do mini-álbum “Venom ‘96”, seguido em 1997 pelo full-lenght “Made In Stone”. Depois de uma turnê mundial, o Venom lançou o disco duplo “New, Live & Rare” no meio de 1998. “Buried Alive” apareceu um ano depois, e na primavera de 2000 o grupo voltou com “The Court of Death” e “Beauty and the Beast”. Em 2006 eles celebraram seu 25o. aniversário com “Metal Black”.
